It's back, because if something is perfect, it doesn't need changing! The Christmas Cake Batter pretzel is back for December in-store. Or, make it yourself with our At Home Kit.

We've been whipping up this magical creation for years around Christmas time, because it makes everything that much more festive.

Inspired by traditional Christmas flavours, this pretzel sits delightfully in a kind-of-savoury, kind-of-sweet area that we just love, as do you all of you - who keep asking us to bring it back! And if you're not aware, and love a Christmas dessert, come get the best one in Perth at Pretzel!

So what's in our Christmas Pretzel?

Our signature soft pretzel base, coated in crushed ginger-nut biscuits drizzled with our in-house cake batter, which is filled with warm spices and sugary goodness. This limited edition pretzel is like Christmas in your mouth.

And now... you can make it yourself: Christmas Pretzel Recipe

We had a thought recently: It's the season of giving, so it only makes sense that we share the recipe so you can make the Christmas Cake Batter pretzel at home! With this period being so busy, we know some of you can't make it to our stores, so here's our exact recipe for this limited edition pretzel.

Ingredients

Gingernut biscuits 250g

Icing sugar 500g

Butter 75g

Brown sugar 1.5 tbsp

Water 4 tbsp

Mixed spice 1 tsp

Cinnamon 1/2 tsp

Nutmeg 1/2 tsp

Makes approx. 12 pretzels.

Method

  1. Crush the gingernut biscuits into crumbs. The crumbs should be evenly crushed, but not too fine.

  2. Combine icing sugar, water and butter in a Thermomix and blend until smooth. The batter should be thick and fluffy.

  3. Add brown sugar, mixed spice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Combine.

  4. Once incorporated, move into a squeezy bottle or a piping bag.

  5. Prepare an original pretzel (per the instructions in our At Home Pretzel Kit)

  6. Coat the top and sides of the pretzel in a thin layer of ghee.

  7. Completely submerge the pretzel into the gingernut crumbs, allowing the ghee to pick up an even layer on the top and sides. Gently shake the excess off the pretzel.

  8. Top the cake batter in a zig-zag formation - or anyway you like!

Tips

  • Don't have a Thermomix? Use any kind of food processor. If you really want a workout, grab a whisk and get to work!

  • If the cake batter isn't coming together, try adding some more water, one teaspoon at a time. Too much water will ruin the batter.

  • If you make too much batter, that's the point! Eat it right out of the bowl
